The Acropolis Museum celebrates 10-year anniversary
20 June 2019
The Acropolis Museum’s anniversary coincides with the opening to the public of the 4,000-square meter archeological excavation of an ancient Athenian neighborhood, a major part underneath the building designed by Bernard Tschumi and his team. Celebrations include an orchestral concert by the composer Stavros Xarchakos, a photographic exhibition showing the marble craftsmen and their conservation of Greek monuments, and a lecture by Giovanni Verri on the polychromy of the Parthenon sculptures. Since its inauguration in 2009, the museum has welcomed over 14 million visitors.
