Glass Video Gallery 20th Anniversary

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of his Glass Video Gallery, Bernard Tschumi lectures at the Forum Images Hereplein in Groningen in the Netherlands, just across from the repurposed gallery, on the materialization of concepts in architecture. The Pavilion, originally intended to display video art, was built in 1990 as a part of the exhibition “What a Wonderful World” featuring public architecture installations by Rem Koolhaas, Zaha Hadid, Peter Eisenman, and Coop Himmelblau. The Gallery, since renamed the Tschumipaviljoen, has become a part of the permanent collection of the Groninger Museum, and is now a venue for contemporary art installations. Visit Site.
Jean Tschumi Drawings Exhibited at MoMA

Works by Jean Tschumi are currently on view as part of the exhibition “Building Collections: Recent Acquisitions of Architecture” at the Museum of Modern Art. A selection of about ten drawings of the elder Tschumi’s work are exhibited, including his Stockholm master plan competition entry (1932) and the Nestle Headquarters in Vevey (1960), highlighting his contribution to international modernism. Also on view is a pair of slides by Bernard Tschumi which comment on form in architecture. The exhibition will be on view until May 30, 2011.

Bernard Tschumi Architects, working with Arup, New York, are selected to compete for the new Musée des Beaux-Arts in Lausanne, Switzerland. Other competing teams include Souto Moura Arquitectos, Kengo KUMA & Associates, Allied Works Architecture, Harry Gugger Studio, Caruso St John Architects, and Gigon/Guyer Architekten.
Vision for Chile’s Third Century at the Santiago Museum of Contemporary Art

23 October, 2010, Santiago, Chile. Bernard Tschumi Architects unveiled a proposal for the city of Santiago as part of an exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art titled “SCL-2110”, exploring the potential for the urban landscape of the city in the coming century. Other participants include LOT-EK, Diller Scofidio + Renfro, Roselee Goldberg and Vito Acconci, among other national and international contributors. SEPTEMBER 27, 2010: A new state-of-the-art music venue by Bernard Tschumi urbanistes Architectes (BTuA) opened its doors with a 24-hour-long marathon concert of performances of music from around the world on Friday, September 24th, including a Senegalese opera sung in French and Wolof. The new center in the Bordeaux suburb of Cenon cost just under 17 million Euros and will draw aficionados from around the region as well as having national significance as a center for world music. The new performance center is the realization of a commission won from a design competition in 2006. more

La Roche-sur-Yon Opens in Formal Ceremony

A public ceremony inaugurates a footbridge in la Roche-sur-Yon, France designed by Bernard Tschumi Architects and Hugh Dutton Associates. The bridge's cylindrical structure aims to express the loads and stresses on the bridge while creating an original and contemporary statement for a town promoting the arrival of TGV train service to the coast.
