Beijing Interior

We approached the Infinite Interior project as an opportunity to explore the possibility of using bamboo—a traditional Asian building material that is both inexpensive and environmentally sustainable—in unexpected and innovative ways. The apartment unit is therefore treated as a laboratory for testing this material. Literally everything in the unit is made out of bamboo, including floors, ceilings, window coverings, furnishings, and kitchen and bathroom appliances. more
We approached the Infinite Interior project as an opportunity to explore the possibility of using bamboo—a traditional Asian building material that is both inexpensive and environmentally sustainable—in unexpected and innovative ways. The apartment unit is therefore treated as a laboratory for testing this material. Literally everything in the unit is made out of bamboo, including floors, ceilings, window coverings, furnishings, and kitchen and bathroom appliances.
We also designed two new space-dividing systems, both made of bamboo: one is a partition composed of panels that fold and rotate to create walls and corridors; the other, a system of sliding partitions that expand to create temporary divisions within a room. These systems provide the apartment's residents with the flexibility to design their space according to changing needs. back
